As part of the ‘Great Doncaster Lesstival’ the Danum, Gallery, Library, and Museum are hosting a FREE event for all ages to explore links to nature and thrifty sustainable ideas to support the environment.
Join us on Saturday 30th November 11am – 3pm to enjoy a mix of talks, stalls and activities delivered in partnership by Culture Services and local creative or nature based partners.
Talks and Discussions
Artist Talk Yu-Chen Wang

Yu-Chen Wang shares insight into the creation of artwork Full Circle. An immersive cinematic video installation that explores Doncaster’s industrial heritage where nature and technology collide. Places are limited book a free space here.
Film Screening by Yu-Chen Wang – Full Circle
The film ‘Full Circle’ will also be screening in the museum through out the day with no booking required. This is wonderful opportunity to experience an alternative perspective of a journey across Doncaster’s landscapes of the peatlands and post industrial ground with a beautifully immersive soundscape.
Yu-Chen will be available through out the day until 2pm to chat and answer any questions.
Championing Change for River Recovery

A conversation with Chris Firth MBE looking at the history of the River Don alongside Chris’ career in waterways. How he championed change, to help the river recover and was a founding trustee of the Don Catchment Rivers Trust. Places are limited book you free place here.
Thinking about river pollution – community group discussion

A facilitated discussion with Don Catchment Rivers Trust looking at environmental themes such as climate change and rivers. This session will explore ideas, experiences, and feelings surrounding these subjects and what actions we can take. Places are limited book your free here.

Trash to Trend

Nature Still Life Drawing

Explore life in the times of the Celts

Handle museum objects that help tell the story of what life was like in the times of the Celts.

Explore nature through stories linked to taxidermy animals from the museum collection.
Frankinstitch

Contribute to the creation of a marvellous monster sculpted from recycled clothes. Explore museum objects linked to make do and mend campaign launched during WW2 to help people get their wear out of their clothes and house hold objects.
You can also visit various stalls including Bentley Urban Farm, Commune of the North, Doncopolitan, Active Travel, The Recycling Team and more.
