SUMMARY:The River Don\, Landscape and History - a Sense of Place Through T
 ime
DESCRIPTION:Professor Ian D. Rotherham\n\nSaturday 6 June\, 12pm\n\nThis ri
chly illustrated talk will take us down the arterial river of South Yorksh
ire from its upland western origins to the lowlands of the once-great Sout
h Yorkshire Fen. This watercourse put the ‘Don’ in Doncaster and has b
een central to the region’s people\, communities\, ecology\, and history
. The lifeblood of regional economies\, the river has been used and abused
over many centuries but today is bringing new life to the regeneration of
South Yorkshire. Now self-rewilded\, the River Don is once more symbolic
of the region’s resilience and rejuvenation. We will look at heritage fr
om the past and short extracts of the ongoing ‘visualisation’ model (p
roduced by the Landscape Heritage Research Foundation and South Yorkshire
Biodiversity Research Group for the DCRT) and which brings the landscape c
hanges to life today.\n\nBook your FREE ticket here.\n\n
