  lecture is based on the major exhibition held at Danum Gallery Library an
 d Museum during 2024 to celebrate the life and achievements of Sir Nigel G
 resley\, the Chief Mechanical Engineer of the London &amp\; North Eastern 
 Railway. Starting with the centenary of the naming of his most famous loco
 motive Flying Scotsman in 1924\, it tells the story of his life and looks 
 at a unique collection of documents\, The Gresley Papers\, which provide i
 nsight to his development as an engineer and his work at Doncaster.
