Following on from the previous lecture on the George Cross / Edward Medal this presentation will dig into the links with Doncaster and mining where numerous awards of the GC / Edward Medal were made. The talk delivered by Keith Lumley and Mick Brand will focus on the recipients of the GC, the stories behind their award and the mining community in which they worked and ultimately their bravery was recognised by this most prestigious award. Doncaster holds the highest number of both VCs and GC (and equivalent Edward Medal).
